The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (MDES), through the Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA), is propelling Thailand’s national AI strategy onto the global stage by hosting the landmark “Bangkok AI Week 2025.” This premier national AI festival will take place from 23 to 27 June 2025, with activities hosted throughout Bangkok. Under the theme “AI Powered Nation: Unleashing the Digital Economy for All,” the event aims to foster inclusive digital economic opportunities while reinforcing Thailand’s commitment to ethical and forward-looking AI development. Thailand emphasizes that it is not only ready to adopt AI, but also to build and help shape its global trajectory.
Dr. Sak Segkhoonthod, Senior Advisor of ETDA, remarked, “AI is not merely a transformative technology – it is the driving force of the future across economic, social, and security dimensions.” He emphasized the urgency for Thailand to define its role in the global AI landscape. While Thailand is not yet a global tech leader, the nation was ranked 7th worldwide for momentum in digital economic growth in the 2025 Digital Evolution Index. This demonstrates that, with the right strategic approach, Thailand is well-positioned to emerge as a regional AI powerhouse.
MDES has established a two-pronged strategy for AI development in Thailand: AI Readiness and AI Adoption. The AI Readiness dimension focuses on building foundational infrastructure and talent development. Over the next two years, Thailand targets the development of over 10 million AI users, at least 90,000 AI professionals, and a minimum of 50,000 AI developers. This will be achieved through targeted reskilling and upskilling programs aligned with future labor market demands. In parallel, continuous investments will be made in core technological infrastructure, including supercomputers, cloud systems, GPU infrastructure, and open-source AI platforms, ensuring scalable, cost-effective AI innovation across sectors.
The AI Adoption dimension aims to drive tangible AI integration across key national sectors to deliver economic and societal benefits. Three focus areas include: 1) Healthcare – Leveraging AI in hospitals for diagnostics and treatment planning, supporting Thailand’s ambition to become an ASEAN Medical Hub. 2)Tourism – Utilizing real-time AI-driven analytics to enhance tourist services and targeted marketing strategies. 3) Smart Agriculture – Deploying AI for weather forecasting, water management, and crop planning to boost productivity and optimize market access.
By advancing both readiness and adoption, Thailand aims not only to be AI-ready but to be a creator and policy shaper in a transparent, ethical, and sustainable AI ecosystem. The vision is to establish Thailand as an “Ethical AI Nation” where responsible technology development leaves no one behind and fosters equitable opportunities for all.
Bangkok AI Week 2025 will commence as a national platform under the theme “AI Powered Nation: Unleashing the Digital Economy for All,” offering significant activities for all sectors to participate:
- “AI Strategy Thailand: Where Do We Stand in the World?” A panel discussion exploring Thailand’s global positioning in the AI ecosystem, examining the roles of transparency, governance, and inclusive policymaking. Includes case studies and participatory dialogue, and will take place on June 23, 2025 at House Cinema, 5th Floor, Samyan Mitrtown.
- “Winning the Business Game with Generative AI” A practical workshop tailored for startups and SMEs, focusing on AI implementation strategies to enhance business efficiency and connect Thai enterprises with global AI tools and ecosystems. Promotes cross-industry learning and collaboration, and will take place on June 24, 2025 at Victor Club at Sathorn Square.
- “AI & The Next Economic Leap: Transforming Business, Revolutionizing Thailand’s Economy” An in-depth forum on AI’s role in driving economic transformation through innovation, investment, and policy. The session will showcase business models, investment strategies, and responsible AI benchmarks for investors, and will take place on June 27, 2025 at Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park.
- “AI Beyond Earth: AI for a Sustainable World” A multidisciplinary forum on AI’s contributions to green innovation and environmental sustainability. Features research showcases, cross-sector dialogue, and a call to action for ethical AI in climate and environmental contexts and will take place on June 27, 2025 at TK Park, Centara Grand at CentralWorld.

Additionally, Thailand has the honor of co-hosting the 3rd UNESCO Global Forum on the Ethics of AI 2025, taking place from 24–27 June 2025 at Centara Grand at CentralWorld. The forum will feature high-level policy discussions alongside diverse side events. These include AI Literacy for Civil Servants, International Hackathon – Explainable AI in Finance, AI for Children’s Rights, AI & Global Insecurity, and AI Sandboxes – Regulatory Learning in Action. These events aim to expand inclusive participation and reflect Thailand’s active leadership in the development of ethical AI.
