The Chulalongkorn University Alumni Association under the Royal Patronage (CUAA) and the Student Government of Chulalongkorn University (SGCU) have collaborated to turn Siam Square’s Block K and Siam Walking Street pink for the grand event, “CHULA BAKA BEGINS.” Marking the start of the highly anticipated return of the 75th Thammasat-Chula Traditional Football Match. After a five-year hiatus, the match is set to make a spectacular comeback on Saturday, February 15, at Supachalasai Stadium.
The 75th Thammasat-Chula Traditional Football Match promises an even bigger and more exciting event this year. Led by the Chulalongkorn University Cheerleaders (CUCL), The Drum Major of Chulalongkorn University, and The Cheer Master. The card stunt performance by the CU Cheer Club is also anticipated to be a highlight this year, with the event organizers guaranteeing an unforgettable experience for all: “Join the Chula stand for fun, watch the game for free, and receive exclusive giveaways!”
“CHULA BAKA BEGINS,” transformed Siam Square into a vibrant pink celebration. Assoc. Prof. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University, presided over the event alongside Auttapol Rerkpiboon, President of the Chulalongkorn University Alumni Association under the Royal Patronage; Mr.Akkaruth Sandhyananda Deputy Permanent Secretary and Chairman of the Public Relations Committee for the 75th Thammasat-Chula Traditional Football Match (Chula side); Dr. Nittaya Soreekul, Deputy Director General of the Excise Department and Vice Chairman of the Public Relations Committee (Chula side). Together, they unveiled four major highlights of this year’s festival
Four Major Highlights of ‘CHULA BAKA BEGINS’
1. Pink Carpet Parade
Siam Square Walking Street is transformed into pink as distinguished guests from Chulalongkorn University join the Pink Carpet Parade. They will be joined by well-known alumni and current Chula students such as “Leesaw” Teeratep Winothai, Tan Thankhun Darasrisak, and “Barcode” Trinnasit Isarapongporn Most importantly, organizations from both Chulalongkorn and Thammasat join hands to showcase their spirit together.
2. BAKA Exhibition
BAKA exhibition displayed immersive artworks that encapsulate the essence of the Traditional Football Match, with the collection of historic football jerseys from the previous year. Additionally, visitors will get a hands-on experience of Chula’s signature card stunt performance.
3. CU BAKA BLOOD
In collaboration with the Thai Red Cross Society, Chulalongkorn University hosts a blood donation event at Siam Square’s Block I, encouraging the Chula community to give back to society.
4. BAKA Stage
Chulalongkorn University prepares a lineup of exciting performances from Chulalongkorn’s leading student organizations will take center stage. These include the Chulalongkorn University Cheerleaders, a grand introduction of the Chula football team featuring legendary alumni players like Teeratep Winothai and Sompong Soleb, The Drum Major of Chulalongkorn University, CU Colorguard, and CU Pom Pom. The event will conclude with a special performance by the popular artist PROXIE.
A Grand Comeback for the Traditional Football Match
Associate Professor Dr. Sukanya Sompiboon, Vice President for Student Affairs at Chulalongkorn University, emphasized that “CHULA BAKA BEGINS” is designated to reignite the spirit between universities, celebrate the unity, and strengthen the bonds among Chula students. The event also serves as a major promotional platform for the return of the Traditional Football Match, which has been absent for the past five years.
Meanwhile, Mr. Worachit Suniwatranupong, a fourth-year student from the Faculty of Science and President of the 75th Thammasat-Chula Traditional Football Match Project, expressed his confidence in Chula’s victory this year. He added, “The card stunt performance will be an incredible fun this year! In which anyone can join, and no prior experience is needed. Additionally, you can join for fun, watch the game for free, and enjoy the exclusive giveaways! Don’t miss out—Saturday, February 15, see you at Supachalasai Stadium at 9:09 AM. It’s going to be epic!”
